Special focus is given on English literature at the undergraduate, postgraduate and research (M. Phil. And Ph. D.) levels. The Department offers an introductory course on Linguistics at the Honours level. Students’ seminars are organized at the postgraduate and M. Phil. Levels to promote originality in critical thought and to facilitate students-teacher interaction. State level, national and international seminars are arranged on a priority basis on literary subjects and issues. Extension lectures, given by eminent academicians, are frequently organised to highlight the latest developments in the fields of knowledge and researches within the discipline. The Journal of the department comes out at regular intervals with detailed working out of the thrust areas. After holding several Syllabus Revision Workshops, the Department has drawn up an extensively new and updated P.G. syllabus with optional papers like Linguistics & Critical Theory; Indo-Anglican Literature; and Middle English Literature; nineteenth century studies and culture studies.
