BENGALI

At the post-graduate level special emphasis is given on Dialect study; Language Planning, Training and development of course material in language teaching in the perspective of post-literacy campaign; Introduction to Chomsky and post-Chomskyan linguistics; Contemporary Indian literature in major languages; Bengali literature of Bangladesh; Folk literature and culture in the perspective of contemporary international standard. The sociological background of literature in particular. Besides, Bengali Manuscriptology is taught in M.A. and M. Phil classes. Bengali literature is taught in the M.Phil. Programme, perspectives of World literature and Indian literature.

At the B.A. (Hons.) level emphasis is given on the basic structure of Sanskrit language and outline of Sanskrit literature.
